Enrichment

  • From Kindergarten finger paintings to 6th Grade sculptures, our Art Adventures spark imagination and confidence! Little artists start by exploring lines, shapes, and colors with paint, crayons, and oil pastel magic. As they grow, they dive into textures, patterns, and color wizardry inspired by legends like Picasso and O’Keeffe. Older kids craft amazing sculptures, mixed media wonders, and even recreate ancient cave art—all while having tons of fun expressing themselves and discovering cultures around the world. Along the way, students also collaborate on immersive art installations, like an underwater world filled with glow-in-the-dark sea creatures, bringing their creativity to life in bold, unforgettable ways.

  • Step into Library Land, where every book is a new adventure! From the very first day, Kindergarten explorers learn to navigate the shelves, discover books that match their reading level as well as those that challenge them, and enjoy weekly read-alouds that celebrate diverse stories and cultures. As students grow, they become savvy book detectives, mastering catalogs and call numbers, and even bring stories to life through creative projects like Kamishibai theater, a traditional Japanese storytelling art that uses illustrated cards in a small wooden stage to visually and orally share narratives. Across all grades, the library is the happiest place for curious minds and joyful readers!

  • Welcome to the world of Music Makers, where every voice, beat, and note has a story. Kindergarten musicians start by singing, shaking, and drumming with fun instruments like glockenspiels and shakers. As they grow, they learn to read music, play xylophones and ukuleles, and even join World Music Drumming circles. Older students compose original ensembles, craft improvised melodies, and deliver engaging performances that captivate audiences and invite active participation.

  • Get ready to shine on stage in our Stage Stars program! Little performers in Kindergarten through 3rd Grade leap into rhythm, dance, and storytelling through lively games and group plays. The older students take center stage with original scripts, scenes, and creative improvisation—producing thoughtful performances that not only entertain but also explore complex social issues like homelessness. Through theatre that reflects the world around them, children develop empathy and a deeper understanding of diverse perspectives, inspiring kindness and meaningful dialogue. Through dance and drama, every student cultivates self-expression, hones collaboration skills, and enjoys the exhilaration of performing in the spotlight.

  • Join the Spanish Explorers on a colorful journey full of songs, stories, and celebrations! Young adventurers learn everyday words about family, holidays, and fun through games, role play, and crafting sugar skulls and piñatas. Older explorers dive deeper, reading, writing, and chatting about cultures from El Salvador to Puerto Rico. They cook food like pupusas and write heartfelt letters for Día del Amor y la Amistad, all while learning about civil rights heroes and expanding their language superpowers! One highlight is the Spanish Café, where students create menus in Spanish, simulate ordering and serving food, and serenade parents with songs—bringing language and culture to life in a joyful, immersive experience.

  • Become a Tech Wizard as you journey from block coding to building 3D models and robots. Our youngest wizards learn typing, digital citizenship, and create digital stories and animations. As they advance, they tackle Scratch coding, robotics, and design thinking, crafting games and projects that solve real-world puzzles. Along the way, they develop responsible decision-making skills, learn to communicate thoughtfully and professionally, such as writing polished emails, and practice safe, ethical use of technology. Working collaboratively, they invent and innovate with the unique magic that technology provides.

We believe that, used properly, technology greatly supports creative and innovative instruction and provides more opportunity for enriched learning.

  • Jump, run, and play in our Move & Groove program, where fitness meets fun! Kindergarten through 2nd Graders develop foundational motor skills like running and jumping through engaging games and obstacle courses, while cultivating teamwork, active listening, and fair play. Older students elevate their experience with team sports, fitness challenges, and strategic play, building strength, endurance, and lifelong healthy habits. They also explore nutrition and set personal wellness goals, empowering them to maintain balance and vitality both on and off the field. In 4th-6th Grade, students participate in intramural sports, competing in friendly games such as basketball, soccer, and volleyball against other schools, fostering sportsmanship, teamwork, and community spirit.

Body, and Spirit into our Physical Education curriculum, as well as nutrition and making healthy choices. Beginning in Kindergarten, Swim Academy begins, at which time all students are introduced to a comprehensive curriculum that includes stroke instruction, breathing techniques, endurance conditioning, strength training, aqua fitness, water polo, junior lifeguarding, water basketball, water volleyball, and diving instruction.

  • From Photography to Glee Club, from Chess to Video Production, our Elective program offers students in our Upper Elementary Division the opportunity to pursue their individual interests and take their course load into their own hands. With different courses offered each Trimester, our diverse and talented faculty has the opportunity to share their various passions with students who are in the exciting process of discovering their own.

  • Our Community Garden

Children aren’t the only things we grow at Hollywood Schoolhouse! Hollywood Schoolhouse and EnrichLA have teamed up to create a sustainable garden where teaching and growing go hand-in-hand. Beginning in Junior Kindergarten, our students take weekly field trips to the garden to learn about composting, gardening, and healthy eating. Students help host our weekly Farmers Market kiosk, where our bounty for the week is showcased and sold to members of our school community.
